Broiled Grapefruit

So again, I found a good idea on Pinterest.  Imagine that, right?

Yes, Broiled Grapefruit.   Sounds amazing...right?

First I had to figure out how to section a grapefruit.  I've only ever eaten them with a grapefruit spoon.  Now, I read about a grapefruit knife!   I have no idea what this is!  :)   But after some googling, I've decided I need one!   But alas, I didn't have one that I could use for this recipe.

So I made due with a regular old knife...and sectioned my grapefruit.  I bet it would be easier with a grapefruit knife!

Next, I sprinkled about a tsp of brown sugar on the top and popped this in the toaster over on broil.   The hardest part was waiting long enough for the brown sugar to caramelize!

It was unreal and SOOO good!   The brown sugar caramelized and got crispy, the grapefruit was warm and delicious.   Totally worth trying for a sweet, warm treat on a winter evening.

Broiling in the toaster oven.

 Look at that yummy goodness!

Handmade Valentine Cards

One of the best crafty things you can do is create something for someone you love.   What better way to show someone how much you care then to spend some time making something for them...

First, I collected valentine ideas on Pinterest.  You can see my Valentine's Day board here:

On the day I decided to create I browsed through the cards ideas and started to get some ideas turning around in my brain...and I settled on a combination of two cards that had elements I thought were great.  One had a hole punched in the card cover and something peeking through - the other had random hearts arranged on it.   I liked the cards with just a simple one or two word message, so with those three ideas in my head I started to browse my stamps to find a good heart.

Here is what I came up with.  This card uses three color of Close to my Heart Stamp Pads (Blush, Cranberry and Cotton Candy) and two color of CTMH Card Stock (Colonial White and Cranberry).  I used two stamp sets - one for the alphabet (Bohemian Alphabet) and one for the hearts (Love Life).

A small hand written note on the inside of this card and it was ready to go!
